After more than 50 years of U.S. munitions activity, the final ammo-laden truck leaves Hochspeyer Munitions Storage Area Oct. 12.

The 435th Munitions Squadron maintained the geographically separated storage area, the Hochspeyer Munitions Annex, which is about 40 minutes east of Ramstein.

The facility has shut down and will be turned over to Germany. The 435th MUNS is consolidating all equipment, personnel and supplies to the Ramstein Munitions Storage Area as part of a way to reduce manpower and as part of Air Force Smart Operations 21.
