More than 60 Incirlik families and 20 individuals attended a conference at the base Chapel Nov. 18 - 22.

The Breaking Free and Making Life Count Conference was a chapel-run event in which families were given the opportunity to learn God's design for a healthy family lifestyle.

"The event was designed to help us recognize our divine purpose and passionately pursue God's calling and vision for our lives," said Chaplain (Maj.) Mark Crumpton. "This had a dramatic effect on singles and couples, as well as families."

Chaplains are often called upon to help with a variety of family issues, from marital problems to issues with children to balancing work and family. The Chaplains offer a different perspective than many other counseling services. This conference was an opportunity to address many of these issues in a group setting.

Bishop Chris Hardy and his wife, Dr. Pamela Hardy, from the International Covenant Ministries in Dallas, led the seminar. While they have conducted many of these seminars, this was the first they have done on a military installation.

"They really enjoyed having the military flavor and they are looking into completing more in a military setting," Chaplain Crumpton said. "We are looking at bringing them back in the future and making this an annual event."

Bishop Hardy spoke about one's true purpose; and through God's will, you will have a passion to achieve it and nothing will stand in your way.

While Bishop Hardy preached to those in attendance, Dr. Hardy showed the audience an alternative version of worship. She held a liturgical, or inspirational, dance seminar to train women to worship through dance.

"It's similar to Hawaii's hula dance," Chaplain Crumpton said. "It tells a story through movement."
