Team Incirlik exceeded its goal for the 2009 Combined Federal Campaign that began Oct. 5 and officially wrapped up Dec. 11.

"The men and women of the 39th Air Base Wing rose to the challenge during this campaign and surpassed our expectations with their generosity," said Col. Lawrence Gray, the 39th ABW vice commander. "Early in the campaign, the wing made the 100 percent contact goal, which has resulted in more than $132,000 in charitable donations to the CFC."

Capt. Ted Rieth, the Incirlik CFC community/area project officer, said although the official end date of the fundraiser has passed, Airmen can still contribute until Dec. 31.

"People can still make donations even though we've passed the active portion of the campaign," Captain Rieth said. "We use this time to finish tallying all the contributions and to provide a grace period for any last minute givers to turn in pledge cards or donate online."

Thirty two CFC representatives, all volunteers, have spent the last two months assisting Airmen with the process of giving to the CFC.

"I'm very grateful to our community that so generously donated to many worthy charities," Captain Rieth said. "Many of us joined the military for reasons similar to this, and I see [our CFC participation] as an extension of this spirit."

According to their Web site, the CFC is the world's largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign. It consists of more than 300 CFC campaigns throughout the country and internationally that help raise millions of dollars each year.

The mission of the CFC is to promote and support philanthropy through a program that is employee focused, cost-efficient, and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all.
