100th ARW tankers help F-22s cross Atlantic
RAF MILDENHALL, England -- High above the Atlantic Ocean, an F-22 Raptor from Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska, trails a 100th Air Refueling Wing KC-135. By sticking close to the tanker, the fighter could regularly top off its fuel tanks to ensure it had enough fuel to reach safety in the event it had to land unexpectedly.
