At the dusk of Tuesday evening, more than 250 members gathered at the Portuguese South Hangar to watch the Air Forces' expeditionary entertainment team, Tops in Blue, during the team's visit here Sept 14.

The team of entertainers was here as part of its 2010 world tour named "We Believe," which will take the group throughout the U.S. and to more than 25 countries, with close to 140 performances.

During the show, the group's energetic performance featured songs and dance show, which put smiles on the faces of the audience, comprising American Airmen and their Portuguese counterparts, and family members.

"I really enjoyed every part of the show," said Col. Eric Axelbank, 65th Air Base Wing vice commander. "The Tops in Blue team gave it their all ... the artists' (excellent) performances show that we are very important to them."

When the team arrived at Lajes, most of the Tops in Blue members said the reception here was one of the best they have ever had, and according to members of the audience, it resonated in the team's energetic and colorful show.

Tops in Blue gave the audience a rendition of musical numbers from the oldies. They also tailored some of their songs to the younger audience to enjoy, when they incorporated different pop music.

Some younger members of the crowd even said they wished the show (never ended) or could go on forever, when the team performed various songs originally done by one of their favorite artists, Lady Gaga.

The performance of Gaga's musical genre featured various songs like "Poker face," "Paparazzi," and "Telephone," featuring Beyoncé Knowles.

The colorful show, which aroused a standing ovation from the audience, also allowed the team to appear on stage with different costumes, just like Lady Gaga, who is well known for her bedazzling sunglasses and uniquely extreme fashion clothes, such as a plastic bubble dress.

The show concluded with "I am Proud to Be an American," which was dedicated to all armed forces and the Air Force Song, for an Air Force-centric audience.

Tops in Blue, an all-Airman team, provides entertainment for military members stationed worldwide and at the same time promoting community relations.
