The band, Allstar Weekend, rocked RAF Lakenheath with a concert to show their support and appreciation of military members and their families, Jan. 14.

More than 400 Airmen and their families, attended the free concert by the popular Disney Channel band.

"It's really cool that we get to do this," said Zachary Porter, the band's lead singer. "It's awesome to play for people that appreciate (the band) coming over here. It's a unique experience that we can't really (get) just playing a normal show."

During the day, the band members visited Lakenheath Middle School, at RAF Feltwell, for a question and answer session. The students had many questions, including how the band felt playing for military families.

They spoke of their appreciation for the sacrifices made by servicemembers and their families.

"My dad was in the (U.S.) Navy," Mr. Porter said to the students. "When I was your age, we moved around a ton, so I know what it's like. It's a crazy experience."

The other members of the band may not have the same military connection as their band mate, but they still took pride in performing for servicemembers and their families.

"My (parents) are so excited that I'm doing this military tour in Europe," added Nathan Darmody.

After the concert, the band spent almost an hour signing autographs, ensuring every fan could walk away with a smile on their face.

"They put on a great show," said Christopher Cowderoy, 48th Force Support Squadron community services flight chief. "It was really good for the base to have them come over and perform."

The Liberty Wing was their third stop on their European Army Entertainment and Armed Forces Entertainment tour. The tour has already taken them to RAFs Menwith Hill and Croughton. After another show at RAF Mildenhall, the band will travel to bases in Belgium and the Netherlands, and finish their tour in Germany.

Armed Forces Entertainment hosts more than 1,200 shows around the world every year, reaching more than 500,000 personnel at 270 military installations.
