Fallen Liberty Defenders: A memory set in stone
ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England – (left to right)Lt. Col. Paul Cairney, 48th Security Forces Squadron commander, and Lt. Col. David Harris, 100th SFS commander, unveil a stone monument honoring the memory of 48th SFS Senior Airmen Jason D. Nathan and Nicholas J. Alden during the dedication of the Liberty’s Fallen Defenders Memorial March 2, 2012. The ceremony was held on the one year anniversary of the shooting at Frankfurt International Airport, Germany. Nathan was killed in action while deployed to Iraq in June 2007. Alden was killed during the Frankfurt shooting while preparing to deploy to Afghanistan in March 2011.
