SEAC shares priorities, goals, advice

RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany --  "The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff has four priorities that I make it a point to discuss when I speak to groups such as those here at Ramstein and in the Kaiserslautern Military Community," said Marine Sgt. Maj. Bryan Battaglia, the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the CJCS, during his visit to Ramstein Air Base and the KMC Sept. 4 and 5.

While visiting multiple units, Airmen, Soldiers and wounded warriors, the SEAC shared the CJCS's four priorities and talked about reducing suicide, divorce and sexual assault throughout the military.

The priorities aim to achieve national objectives in the current conflicts, develop Joint Force 2020, keep faith with the military family and renew the commitment to the profession of arms, said Battaglia.

During the visit, the SEAC had the opportunity to share his thoughts and goals with more than 20 Airmen and NCOs during lunch.

"It's an honor to be able to have lunch with the most senior NCO in the U.S. armed forces," said Airman 1st Class Davis James, 603rd Air and Space Operation Center air tasking order production technician. "There is a lot that I was able to take away from this meeting; and, if given the chance, I would do this again in a heartbeat."

As the most senior NCO in the U.S. armed forces, Battaglia charged NCOs to be a role model to junior service members.

"The NCO carries the historical adage in our military," said Battaglia. "You can be a significant and positive impact to any young service member to lead them in a way where they will serve their military in a positive and productive manner."

Part of being a role-model NCO is staying resilient. Having a high-profile job comes with many stresses and Battaglia shared his routines for staying resilient.

"I make use of the Total Force Fitness program to bring inner peace and relaxation," said Battaglia. "I try to take the time out of my busy schedule to golf, jog and get good physical training in daily."

Additionally, Battaglia visited the contingency aeromedical staging facility where he met and talked with wounded warriors.

"I was very impressed with the wounded warriors, Airmen, Soldiers and their families," said Battaglia. "It is always an honor when I get a chance to shake the hands of the men and women that serve with me."

Battaglia's visit also included an enlisted call and a tour of Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Landstuhl, Germany.

"The action-packed itinerary gave me a great taste of the things Team Ramstein has to offer in support of the combatant commands," said Battaglia. "I am impressed with the personnel and beautification of the base. It sets as a role model for other bases."
