Philip M. Breedlove to be the next Supreme Allied Commander, Europe and commander, U.S. European Command, succeeding Navy Adm. James G. Stavridis, who has served in that position since 2009. "I'm deeply honored by the nomination to serve as the next Commander of United States European Command and Supreme Allied Commander Europe," said Gen. Breedlove, commander, U.S. Air Forces Europe; commander, U.S. Air Forces Africa; commander, Headquarters, Allied Air Command, Ramstein; and director, Joint Air Power Competence Center. "If confirmed, I'll do everything in my power to live up to the example set by Admiral Jim Stavridis and the other great officers who have led the men and women of this command so well throughout its remarkable history."
