Command officials honor top performers

U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa officials named its top standouts from across the command April 15.

Gen. Philip M. Breedlove, USAFE-AFAFRICA commander, sent winners and their wing leadership a congratulatory note. "Recognition as one of the best out of our ranks reflects outstanding commitment to our core values and our mission," he said.

The USAFE-AFAFRICA 2012 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year Award winners are:

Airman of the Year: Senior Airman Lauren A. Everett, 48th Medical Group, Royal Air Force Lakenheath, United Kingdom

Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Staff Sgt. Nicholas W. Worthington, 52nd Civil Engineer Squadron, Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany

Senior NCO of the Year: Senior Master Sgt. Christopher J. Culbreth, 786th Civil Engineer Squadron, Ramstein AB, Germany

First Sergeant of the Year: Master Sgt. Kevin A. D. Stiff, 39th Security Forces Squadron, Incirlik AB, Turkey

The enlisted annual award recipients will compete for Air Force-level honors.

Additionally, the following individuals are annual USAFE-AFAFRICA award winners in the respective categories; however, they will not compete at Air Force-level completion.

Category 1 Civilian of the Year: Paul H. Oakes, 423rd Civil Engineer Squadron, RAF Alconbury, UK

Category 2 Civilian of the Year: Christopher D. Kiel, 100th Air Refueling Wing Plans, RAF Mildenhall, UK

Company Grade Officer:
Capt. Daniel S. Long, 31st Civil Engineer Squadron, Aviano AB, Italy

"We're blessed to have so many talented and dedicated Airmen on our team," said Breedlove.

The enlisted award recipients were chosen from more than 21,000 Airmen across the command, while the civilians competed among approximately 7,200 of their colleagues, and the company grade officers competed against more than 2,800 fellow officers.
