Gorenc nominated as USAFE-AFAFRICA commander

Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel announced June 4 that the president has nominated Lt. Gen. Frank Gorenc for appointment to the rank of general and for assignment as commander, U.S. Air Forces in Europe; commander, U.S. Air Forces Africa; commander, Allied Air Command; and director, Joint Air Power Competence Centre, Ramstein Air Base, Germany.

"I'm honored and deeply humbled by the nomination to serve as the next commander, U.S. Air Forces Europe; commander, U.S. Air Forces Africa; commander, Allied Air Command; and director, Joint Air Power Competence Centre, Ramstein Air Base, Germany," Gorenc said. "If confirmed, it would be a privilege to return to Europe and serve our Airmen and our many partners in the region. In the meantime, I remain focused on my current duties as assistant vice chief of staff and director, Air Staff, Headquarters U.S. Air Force."
