AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy --

Most Airmen will never see munitions up close. Even fewer will ever handle munitions. But thanks to an event called Friday Fusion, two Wyverns got the chance to help build munitions.

The 31st Maintenance Group hosted Friday Fusion on July 26, 2019. After a day full of learning about different career fields and seeing them in action, Master Sgt. Travis Yeager, assistant fabrication flight chief at the 31st Maintenance Squadron, is happy to say the day was a success.

“Overall the day went wonderful,” said Yeager. “Master Sgt. Knox and I had a great time showing off our maintenance group.”

Attendees saw HH-60G Pave Hawks and F-16 Fighting Falcons up close while also learning about the back shop, witnessing an engine run and later learning about munitions.

“The briefings were informative and allowed others outside of the career field to see the Air Force from another perspective,” said Staff Sgt. Krisstopher Robinson, an occupational safety technician from the 31st Fighter Wing Safety Office, who attended the event.

Whether it was seeing an HH-60G, an F-16, or learning about egress systems, there was plenty to do and even more to learn.

But the attendees were not the only ones getting a unique experience.

Airmen involved with hosting Friday Fusion said they thought it was a positive experience showing other agencies what their days consisted of and look forward to the next Fusion event, said Yeager.

Friday Fusions give active duty members a chance to see and connect with the missions of their wingmen. The events happen once a quarter, and rotate between groups and units.
