‘Initial success or total failure’ - Ultimate sacrifice not forgotten
SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany – Brig. Gen. Chris Weggeman, 52nd Fighter Wing commander, presents the Community College of the Air Force diploma of Staff Sgt. Joseph J. Hamski to his mother, Mary-Ellen Winston, during the Spring 2012 Commencement ceremony at Club Eifel here June 22. The ceremony took place after the “Jog 4 Joe” 5K fun run that was organized by the 52nd CES Explosive Ordnance Disposal Flight to honor Staff Sgt. Joseph J. Hamski, an EOD technician who was killed in action May 26, 2011. Money raised from the run was donated to the EOD Memorial Foundation and the Fisher House Foundation.
