Air Force announces USAFE command changes

The Air Force announced Friday that U.S. Air Force Gen. Roger A. Brady, commander of U.S. Air Forces in Europe, will retire early next year, concluding a 40-year career.

In addition to serving as commander of USAFE since January 2008, General Brady is commander of NATO's Air Component Command, Ramstein, and director of NATO's Joint Air Power Competency Center.

Lt. Gen. Mark A. Welsh III has been named to succeed General Brady, and has been confirmed by the Senate for appointment to the grade of general. He is currently the associate director of the Central Intelligence Agency for Military Support and Military Affairs, Washington, D.C.

The date of General Brady's retirement and USAFE change of command has not been announced.
