Col. Angela Cadwell assumed command of the 501st Combat Support Wing from Col. Brian Kelly during a change of command ceremony at the RAF Alconbury Fire Department July 12.
"If there is one word that describes my feelings today, it is honored," said the wing's newest commander. "Honor gave me the opportunity to command this outstanding wing. To the men and women of the 501st Combat Support Wing, I cannot tell you how honored I am to be standing here in front of you today. It is my great honor to serve alongside each of you. To our mission and community partners, I look forward to networking our strengths through relationships and cooperation and to meeting you all very soon."

Lt. Gen. Craig Franklin, 3rd Air Force commander, presided over the ceremony and said, "Under B.K.'s leadership, the 501st has done a phenomenal job. You are a small wing, but you pack a lot of punch."

Franklin then talked about all of the accomplishments the wing has done in the past two and a half years - from the construction of the clinic at RAF Alconbury and the closing of RAF Upwood to the revamping of multiple support agreements the wing has with its 14,000 customers and the standard of innovation the wing began.

"Angela, I know you will take the wing to the next level," said the general. "Things change, problems change and I know under your leadership, this wing will rise to the occasion and solve significant problems for not only the U.S. but also our NATO partners."

Before arriving at the 501st CSW, Cadwell served in a number of base level, joint, combat communications, special operations, and major command staff assignments to include Joint Staff.  Additionally, she was selected for the Air Force Intern Program.

Cadwell thanked Franklin for the opportunity to lead the 501st CSW into the future and said, "I promise I will do it right."
