After an official request from the government of Russia to the United States, and at the request of the Department of State, the Department of Defense directed U.S. European command to provide valuable fire-fighting equipment that includes fire-fighting protective equipment and tools to help Russia combat the ongoing wildfires. We routinely provide foreign humanitarian assistance in the time of crisis, in the same manner as many nations around the world, and we value our relationship with Russia. This is an example of our ability to work together and support each other in times of crisis.
