GRAF IGNATIEVO, Bulgaria- Tech. Sgt. Michael Zucco, Senior Airman Jonathan Taylor and Senior Airman Seth Roberts, 48th Munitions Squadron, prepare a GBU-12 500 pound inert bomb, with a MAU-169 computer control group, here as a MIG-29 taxis by. The MAU-169 follows a laser to the target. A laser can either be sent from the F-15E Strike Eagle or from a servicemember on the ground. The munitions troops built the bombs for the F-15 flying simulated ground attack with the Army as part of the tri-lateral exercise Immediate Response 2006, with the U.S., Bulgarian and Romanian militaries.

Staff Sgt. James Yandell, 173d Security Forces Squadron, stands watch recently on the flight line at 3d Airbase at Graf Ignatievo, Bulgaria. More than 100 members of the 173d Fighter Wing, from Kingsley Field, Ore were in Bulgaria for Sentry Lion 2006, a bi-lateral flying exercise with the Bulgarian Air Force. The two week exercise focused on increasing interoperability with the Bulgarian Air Force. The interaction among pilots, maintainers and all support personnel continues to build a solid foundation for future U.S. Air Force and NATO activities in Bulgaria.
