BOUFARIK AIR BASE, Algeria -- General Tom Hobbins, U.S. Air Forces in Europe commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Gary Coleman, U.S. Air Forces in Europe command chief, receive a tour of Boufarik Air Base June 24.  During their visit, they toured the transport aircraft maintenance facility, simulator facility and met Airmen from the Algerian Air Force.

ALGIERS, Algeria -- General Tom Hobbins, U.S. Air Forces in Europe commander, salutes during an honors ceremony held for him at Boufarik Air Base in Algeria June 24.  General Hobbins toured the base and met with military and defense leadership during his first trip to North Africa June 22-28. 

Closing Ceremony

Brig. Gen. Jay Lindell, USAFE Director of Logistics, accepts the folded USAFE Regional Supply Squadron flag from Lt. Col. Mark Hawley, USAFE RSS commander at the inactivation ceremony at Sembach AB Wednesday. The USAFE RSS is the first MAJCOM RSS to transition the workload to the new Logistics Support Centers.

International Relations

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan – Gen. Tom Hobbins, U.S. Air Forces in Europe commander, is greeted by Col. Dominique Putois, French air force, during his visit to Dushanbe, Tajikistan May 20. During the visit, Gen Hobbins toured the recently deployed French Mirage squadron that supports the International Security Assistance Forces’ mission and thanked the deployed Airmen for their service.

Berlin blues

BERLIN -- Staff Sgt. Michael Bass (left) and Staff Sgt. Branton Dunston seek shelter under the wing of an F-16CJ during a rainy afternoon May 18 at the Berlin Air Show. They are among about 60 Airmen and Soldiers from the United States and Europe who have joined more than more than 1,000 exhibitors from 42 countries here at the Berlin Schoenefeld Airport. Sergeant Dunston is a crew chief and Sergeant Bass is an electrical environmental specialist; they are both assigned to the 52nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany. The air show remains opens to trade visitors through May 19, and opens to the general public May 19-21. Biter

Staff Sgt. Justin Devaney, 31st Security Forces Squadron, instructs Nico to attack someone wearing a bite suit. The bite suit is made to withstand a more advanced bite without hurting the person in the suit. During “bite work,” the dogs are trained to attack when necessary.

Boy Scouts

Austin Fortner, 13, foreground, and Eric Milliner, 12, practice making fire using materials they gathered in the woods. The Boy Scouts earned their wilderness survival merit badge last weekend and learned preservation techniques in case they ever get lost.
