NASOSNAYA AIR BASE, Azerbaijan – Gen. Tom Hobbins, U.S. Air Forces in Europe commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Gary Coleman, USAFE command chief, are greeted by Lt. Col. Elmer Huseyov, Azerbaijani Air Force, during their May 19 visit to Nasosnaya Air Base, Azerbaijan. The purpose of the visit was to open relations with Azerbaijani leadership and to check the progress of a runway surveyed by the 16th Air Force team a month earlier. The group exchanged ideas to modernize the runway to place it in NATO standards for potential future use by the United States.

Berlin blues
BERLIN -- Staff Sgt. Michael Bass (left) and Staff Sgt. Branton Dunston seek shelter under the wing of an F-16CJ during a rainy afternoon May 18 at the Berlin Air Show. They are among about 60 Airmen and Soldiers from the United States and Europe who have joined more than more than 1,000 exhibitors from 42 countries here at the Berlin Schoenefeld Airport. Sergeant Dunston is a crew chief and Sergeant Bass is an electrical environmental specialist; they are both assigned to the 52nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany. The air show remains opens to trade visitors through May 19, and opens to the general public May 19-21.
