AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy – Senator Ted Stevens from Alaska, visits with Lt. Gen. Glen “Wally” Moorhead, 16th Air Force commander, during his visit here Feb. 20. Senator Stevens also presented General Moorhead with the Air Force Association’s inaugral Senator Ted Stevens Leadership Award. The award recognizes a senior level numbered air force leader who has demonstrated exemplary leadership through exemplary performance, according to the Air Force Association. Senator Stevens was a pilot in the China Burma India theater with the “Flying Tigers” of the 14th Air Force during World War II.
