Allied Strike is USAFE's largest close air support-focused exercise. It is scheduled for June 22-July 2, 2011 in Grafenwoehr, Germany.
Tactical Air Control Party members from the U.S. and partner nations will participate in graduate-level CAS training in scenarios spanning the spectrum of combat operations. They'll be supported by an international fleet of rotary- and fixed-wing aircraft and a team of combat-seasoned instructors. In all, more than 300 people from 16 nations will participate.
Out on the ranges, Joint Terminal Attack Controllers will train to a variety of scenarios including convoy and urban operations, forward operation base defense, live weapons releases, and Tactical Operations Center execution. TACP support personnel will practice calling in emergency CAS and convoy operations including reacting to an enemy ambush and rendering aid to injured comrades.
The training will also make use of several of Joint Multinational Training Command's state-of-the art simulators, where personnel will learn how to react to a variety of combat scenarios including Improvised Explosive Device attacks, MRAP rollovers, and complex convoy ambushes, all in a controlled simulated environment which can be tailored to meet each teams' specific learning objectives.
Allied Strike 2011 offers NATO partners a robust and realistic training environment in which to improve their ability to operate as an integrated, multinational air-ground operations force, with particular emphasis on counterinsurgency operations. This type of training builds capability to conduct CAS operations and refines tactics for use in real-world operations.
