U.S. Airmen and C-130J Super Hercules aircraft assigned to the 37th Airlift Squadron, 86th Airlift Wing, Ramstein Air Base, Germany, arrived in Poland to participate in Aviation Detachment Rotation 21.4, a bilateral training exercise with the Polish air force to enhance partner interoperability, maintain joint readiness and assure our regional allies.

The U.S. and Poland will conduct Agile Combat Employment training during the bilateral training exercise. ACE is intended to ensure U.S. Air Forces in Europe, along with allies and partners, are ready for potential short or no-notice contingencies by allowing forces to operate from locations with varying levels of capacity and support. This would posture Airmen and aircrews to respond across the spectrum of military operations.

“Our Aviation Detachment Rotations demonstrate our steadfast commitment to our Polish allies,” said Gen. Jeff Harrigian, U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa commander. “The more our forces can train side-by-side, the more effective we are together. Continued collaboration between U.S. and Polish forces is essential to successful ACE operations.”

In addition to the 37th AS, the 435th Contingency Response Support Squadron at Ramstein will provide communications support during the rotation. The 435th CRSS fall under the 435th Contingency Response Group, USAFE's only expeditionary open-the-base force. The group provides a scalable, cross-functional, rapidly deployable force designed to assess and open airbases and perform initial airfield operations enabling rapid standup of combat operations anywhere in the U.S. European Command area of responsibility.

Aviation Detachment Rotation are intended to enhance professional military relationships and improve overall coordination with allies and partner militaries during times of crisis.
