US Airmen, aircraft arrive in Portugal for Real Thaw 2019

Airmen and C-130s assigned to the 700th Airlift Squadron, 94th Airlift Wing, Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Georgia, are deployed to Beja Air Base, Portugal, for Real Thaw 2019, an annual, two-week exercise.

This is a Portuguese-led, large joint and combined force exercise typically scheduled in the spring of every year in Portugal.

This training is partially funded by the European Deterrence Initiative and will focus on maintaining joint readiness while building interoperability capabilities.

The purpose of this exercise is to develop and integrate realistic interoperability tasks both in the air and on the ground between multinational units.
