U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa A8I Operational Innovation Branch and the 764th Specialized Contracting Squadron are teaming up to resolve capability gaps for the command by hosting a Commercial Solutions Opening Pitch Day, Nov. 13.

The goal of the Pitch Day is to streamline the acquisition process and deliver the latest technologies to Airmen.

“This is a rapid acquisition strategy to accelerate innovation for USAFE - AFAFRICA,” said John Masters, 764th SCONS acquisition program manager. “Ten capability gaps were collected from the headquarters staff and topics included: communication networks and infrastructures, digital technology, data fusion, information display, small-unmanned aerial systems and base defense systems.”

Based off of the pre-identified capability gaps, local companies and businesses may submit their innovative and viable solutions to help close the gaps during the Pitch Day.

The solutions should fulfill requirements, close the gaps and/or provide potential technology advancements. They can also include existing technologies or procedures not being used by units within USAFE – AFAFRICA to enhance and streamline the overall mission.

Currently, there is more than $9.5M available in potential awards and money can be awarded on the spot if the pitch is well received.

“If we have a good pitch we are going to award as soon as possible,” said Masters. “We want to deliver solutions to the warfighter as soon as we can.”
