Approximately 100 Airmen and three C-130J Super Hercules aircraft from the 86th Airlift Wing’s 37th Airlift Squadron, Ramstein Air Base, Germany, participated in a bilateral training deployment, Exercise Stolen Cerberus IV, with the Hellenic air force and U.S. Army at Elefsis, Greece, from April 18 to April 28.

A U.S. Air Force F-35A Lightning II aircraft arrives at Graf Ignatievo Air Base, Bulgaria, April 28, 2017, marking the first time the NATO country has hosted the 5th generation fighter aircraft. Eight F-35s deployed from Hill Air Force Base, Utah to RAF Lakenheath, England on April 15. Two of the eight forward deployed to Bulgaria for a brief time which allowed the F-35s to engage in familiarization training within the European theater while reassuring allies and partners of U.S. dedication to the enduring peace and stability of the region. The F-35s are assigned to the 34th Fighter Squadron and are supported by total force Airmen from the 388th Fighter Wing, and the Air Force Reserve’s 466th Fighter Squadron, 419th Fighter Wing, Hill Air Force Base, Utah. Twelve F-15C Eagles from the 122nd Expeditionary Fighter Squadron arrived at Graf Ignatievo Air Base, Bulgaria, April 26. Eight F-35A Lightning IIs, Airmen and accompanying equipment are deployed to Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England, for the aircraft’s first overseas training deployment to Europe. The F-35As are from the 34th Fighter Squadron, 388th Fighter Wing and the Air Force Reserve’s 466th Fighter Squadron, 419th Fighter Wing, Hill Air Force Base, Utah, and will conduct air training over the next several weeks with other Europe-based aircraft in support of the European Reassurance Initiative.
